This is not a traditional course — it’s an immersive experience where you’ll apply theoretical concepts in a real laboratory setting, working in teams to tackle fluid dynamics measurement challenges. You’ll have the chance to operate cutting-edge experimental models under the guidance of expert instructors, working on three advanced test setups using state-of-the-art optical, non-intrusive measurement techniques: Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA), Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and Particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV). The students, divided into groups of 4-6 units and supported by the teachers, work throughout the week, alternating between the various experimental apparatuses to: design the experiment, install/align the instrumentation on the test lines, carry out the measurements and analyse the data, producing a final report that will be presented and discussed at the close of the week. Registration closes on 30 April 2025. Participation in the course is free, but PhD students will need to arrange their own food and accommodation. For logistical reasons, the number of participants is limited and priority will be given based on the order of registration.
